Resolutions & Goals for 2015

New York City, Hudson River

Well, we’re almost done with January a.k.a. the terrible season. This week has been rough, partly because I’ve been under the weather and partly because of the snow storm that hit the northeast. The photo above (no filter!) was taken about a month ago as I was on my way home after running a few errands. No snow, just a pretty winter sunset.

This seems like a good time to share some of my new year’s resolutions and goals. Putting it all out here on my blog makes it real and keeps me on track!

1/ Lately, I’ve been making more of an effort to get in touch with old friends. Even with email and Facebook, you inevitably fall out of touch at some point. It’s been wonderful hearing back from friends from all over the world! At the same time though, there are the people that never respond. It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.

2/ I mentioned in my 2014 recap that I plan on going vegan for an entire month! The original plan was to do a vegan March, but now that I’ve made some travel plans for that month, I’m thinking vegan April will be a better choice.  Plus, the warmer weather will be better for fresh salads and lots of smoothies.

3/ The biggest news on my end is that I’m leaving my full time job at the end of this month… tomorrow is my last day! I’ve spent 4+ years at Intwine Marketing, doing all things creative for the wine industry. It’s been a great time, but I’m ready for my next adventure, which involves freelancing and working on personal design projects. I’ve told myself that I need to spend some time resting and relaxing before I dive into anything new, but I’m anxious to get my projects going! I’m looking forward to sharing my projects as they start to come together over the the course of the year.

4/ A wonderful bonus to switching to freelancing means that I’ll have a more flexible schedule and the freedom to explore the city! I hear that NYC is a completely different world on weekdays. I’m excited to wander through Central Park, visit museums, and enjoy lunch specials while most New Yorkers are busy at work.

5/ Another thing on the list, which I’m looking forward to, yet dreading at the same time is spring cleaning and what I’m calling The Great Closet Purge of 2015. I vow to go through every single item in my closet, try everything on, decide if I would wear it, then keep, sell, or donate to Goodwill. Same with our kitchen and all the other storage closets in the apartment. It’s so easy to accumulate stuff over the years, and it’ll be good to clear things out and start fresh. Got any good tips to share?

Solid list! Sounds like you are taking things easy and have some time to do things you love. I wish you all the best. Me, I am going to spend more time with my boys, I only have another year and a half before they leave for college.. I also have to prepare myself mentally and emotionally for that moment.. :(

Thanks! :) I’m a big believer that we all tend to work too hard and don’t spend enough time doing the things we love. Aww, sounds like it’s going to be quite a transition for all of you, but at least you have some time to prepare. One step at a time!
