The Pickle Shack, Gowanas

The Pickle Shack, Brooklyn

We stopped by the Pickle Shack for brunch before heading over to Royal Palms for an afternoon of shuffle board for Will’s birthday. When I first peeked at their website, I didn’t even realize that the Pickle Shack is vegetarian! So many yummy choices, but we were careful not to over order since we didn’t want to end up with leftovers. We’ve also been kind of obsessed with pickling lately, so this place was a good choice.

If you ever visit the Pickle Shack, you must try the fried hop pickles with lemon aioli ($6). Comes in a cute little skillet. Light, crispy batter. An addictive, salty little treat. So tasty with Dogfish Head 60-minute IPA, which was a particularly good deal here.

John ordered the vegan breakfast burrito ($12), which was filled with smoked tofu, root veggie hash, tuscan kale, and avocado. Comes with an arugula salad, hot sauce, and of course, a pickle on the side. I saw somewhere (on Instagram?) that they marinade and bake the tofu before it’s smoked. I took a bite of the burrito, and it was delish.

Too many sandwiches to choose from, but I ultimately went with the all green sandwich ($11). Lots of avocado, cucumbers, fresh herbs, arugula, sprouts, eggplant and tahini spread on toasted miche bread. Very satisfying, veggie packed sandwich. The pickle spear was good too. Nice and crunchy.

Dogfish Head 60-minute IPA? Is that the name of the beer? The food looks delicious. How are you doing over there in the snow?

I can definitely eat here. I am not so much of a ‘meal’ person but more on snacks, so this is right up my alley

Thanks for stopping by! I feel like snacks are the way to go. You can nibble away and try more flavors before you’re full.
