Before heading to Branch Brook Park, we stopped by Tea NJ to grab a couple hot dogs to go. I’ve walked by Tea NJ several times and had always assumed they’re a basic coffee shop. They actually serve a good selection of very reasonably priced vegetarian/vegan sandwiches, salads, and hot dogs, including brunch on weekends. Their motto is “No one feels left out,” and in addition to all the veggie eats, they offer a few meat dishes if that’s your thing.
John and I both got the vegan Spicy Devil Hot Dog ($6), which has a spicy chipotle “sausage”, pico de gallo, and avocado on a whole wheat baguette. It never occurred to me to put avocado on a hot dog, but it was so good… better than cheese! The sausage was basically vegan chorizo with just the right amount of heat. It was a little messy to bring to the park, but very tasty!
