GustOrganics Vegan Party

This post is in collaboration with U.S. Veg Corp.

Earlier this year, GustOrganics took the leap and went 100% vegan. While the veggie community embraced the change, some of their omnivore customers were not so kind and even went as far as to send them hate mail and harass their employees. It’s disappointing that it’s 2015 and some omnivores still react to veganism in this way, but that’s a longer post for another time.

Vegan or not, running a restaurant is tough, and unfortunately, GustOrganics had to close their doors this August even after they fought to stay open. Before closing, GustOrganics and U.S. Veg Corp teamed up to celebrate veganism and support The Humane League. I’ve been doing some work with U.S. Veg Corp, and I’m glad I got to contribute and attend this last hurrah. I also stopped by for a beautiful afternoon snack a couple days before their final farewell.

The theme was “Cheers to the Future!”, and it was wonderful to see NYC’s veggie community come together to celebrate. It was also great to hear that other restaurants across the country have also made the switch to fully vegan. One step at a time, right?

The restaurant’s storefront windows were open, and many curious passersby stopped to take a peek at what was going on. Crisp summer night, 1-hour organic open bar, tasty vegan buffet, live DJ and dance party. Veggie folks sure know how to party! We nibbled on fantastic vegan cheese and later moved on to vegan sliders, buffalo cauliflower, and mac and cheese.

Wishing Veganizer Kiki and team all the best on their next big vegan adventure!
