Bar Breton, Flatiron

Quick dinner at Bar Breton with Angela and Zach. Cute, cozy place. Grabbed a nice spot by the windows. Quiet enough for a real conversation, which is somewhat rare in NYC.

Bar BretonFood was good. A little pricey, but quite tasty. It’s for the best that John didn’t join. Not sure if there would have been anything suitable for him. Angela and Zach both had the Duo of Chicken with marinated chicken, mushrooms, shallot confit, and foie gras.

No vegetarian entrees on the menu, so I splurged and went with the Lobster Carbonara with Canadian and applewood smoked bacon, peas, wild mushrooms, and lobster foam. I can’t remember the last time I had lobster. Crustaceans terrify John, haha.Lobster CarbonaraDishes like this make it very difficult to be vegetarian. The lobster and mushrooms were piled on top of a bed of bacon. Delightful. Very rich, but delightful. Sauvignon Blanc was an okay pairing. A rich Chardonnay would have been better. Ended up being a lot of food – I was stuffed! Restaurants should do half portions at half the price.
