I’ve been doing a lot of eating over the past few days. It all started with Darbar Grill with Sonali and Donald on Thursday. 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, 1 drink each. Ordered some cocktail called Five Spices. A mix of Malibu rum and various tropical juices. Yum. They also have a very green looking cocktail called Slumdog Millionaire.
A waiter recommended the Kashturi Kabab (chicken marinated with fenugreek). Tasty, tender, but nothing too special. The Spinach Moong Chat was one of the most interesting things I’ve had in a while. Spinach fritters, mung bean sprouts, onion, tomato and chutney. Crunch, crunch, crunch. Very unique vegetarian appetizer. We shared the Chicken Tikka Masala (chicken breast with fenugreek in creamy tomato sauce), a fish curry entree and a lamb dish with onions and garlic. It’s very unfortunate that I can’t remember the names of those two other dishes (blame it on the cocktail), and the online menu doesn’t have their full list. Chicken Tikka Masala is one of my favorite things in the world, and they cooked it to perfection here. The sauce is my favorite part, and there was plenty of it. I’ve never had fish in Indian food before – it was delicious! I usually find most lamb dishes to be a quite overwhelming. Whatever we ordered, it was a good one. One order of naan was plenty for the three of us.
