Momofuku Noodle Bar, East Village

Momofuku Noodle Bar with Kelly and Sung. Over an hour wait for a $15 bowl of ramen. The ramen was above average, but definitely not worth $15. Everything seemed so small, including the beverages. Tasty food, but that wait was awful.

Soju slushie, Full Sail Beer Momofuku ramen – pork belly, pork shoulder, poached egg Momofuku ramen Chilled spicy noodles – sichuan spiced sausage, spinach, cashews Chilled spicy noodlesTamales (John isn’t a huge ramen fan, so he went with one of their specials.)Momofuku tamales Miso ramen – smoked chicken, swiss chard, soy egg  Momofuku miso ramenThe incredible smoky flavor of the chicken permeated the broth. All ingredients were fresh and flavorful. Noodles were just what you would expect. The broth was a bit too salty, and the smoky flavor got a little overwhelming toward the end.

I’ve heard a lot about the ramen at Momofuku, but waiting more than an hour?? I thought ramen (after cooking the broth) was really fast food..:)

Crazy, right?! Momofuku is definitely overhyped. At Totto ramen, I waited in line for 2.5 hours. The ramen craze in NYC is insane.
