Happy Hour at Pera Soho, Soho

Blood Orange Martini, Pera Soho Happy Hour

There are plenty of places to grab an after work drink in NYC, but it’s not always easy to find a spot with good pricing and reasonable crowds. We lucked out at Pera Soho, where everything on the happy hour menu is $7. It draws enough of a happy hour crowd to feel cool, while maintaining an intimate, loungey vibe. It’s good for catching up with friends as opposed to just getting boozed up after a long day at work.

I’ve made the happy hour cocktail rounds at Pera! The blood orange martini has a sweet citrus flavor with the booziness you expect of a martini. The apricot margarita is a strong one too, and, unfortunately, the apricot flavor doesn’t stand out enough. The Soho blossom has sweet, floral flavors, as well as St. Germaine, one of my favorite cocktail ingredients. That’s my top pick of the three $7 cocktails.

Housemade hummus is always a good choice at a Mediterranean restaurant. Pretty tasty and creamy, but nothing out of this world. If you like beets, get the beet and goat cheese dip. There’s a good balance of the two flavors, and the dip is a lovely bright color. The crispy phyllo rolls stuffed with kasseri cheese are a favorite of mine. My only complaint is that tou don’t get enough of those rolls even if you order off the regular menu!
