Our next food stop was at Nick & Aron’s pizzeria in the lovely Temescal neighborhood of Oakland. Despite living in Berkeley for three years, we had never ventured to Temescal before. What a cute, walkable area with lots of neighborhood gems like this pizzeria!
Nick & Aron’s menu says they serve Oakland style pizzas, but I have no idea what that means. It seems like Oakland style = thin crust, sourdough pizzas? Whatever it is, I liked it a lot! We got a few slices of the harissa pizza with caramelized onions, roasted cauliflower, feta, and cilantro. The harissa can also be made vegan, but we just got whatever we available at the counter.
The onions and cauliflower were delicious with the harissa sauce, which had a good hint of heat. The feta was nice, but not absolutely necessary as the veggies already packed lots of flavor. We sipped on Sticky Zipper, a local Oakland IPA, and Red Stripe. Pizza is definitely a New York thing, but Nick & Aron’s won me over with their veggie loaded sourdough pizza!
I agree! Oakland-style pizza looks delish:) Also curious about what Jamaican-style lager is..?
Hmm, Red Stripe seems to be a really standard lager. Nice, but nothing special. I guess it’s just brewed in Jamaica?
