Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Mitzee Mee for a blogger date. We’ve been reading each other’s blogs for a year and a half, possibly even two years now. Seems like a good time to finally meet up. I recently did some writing for Mitzee’s NYC city guide, and it worked out nicely that she planned to visit NYC before finishing that project. You can read Mitzee Mee’s blog post about our blogger date here.
Mitzee had suggested that we meet up for ramen or mac and cheese, two subjects that I come up in my blog a lot. I suggested a few places before we settled on Delicatessen. The weather was beautiful, and there was plenty of outdoor seating available. I haven’t met up with many bloggers before, so this was a fairly new experience for me. You never know what to expect or how the conversation will go. Plus, it can be a bit awkward when you first meet, I mean, should you greet each other with a handshake or a hug? Or maybe it’s just me who’s awkward, haha.
All that said, Mitzee was friendly, sweet, and a lot of fun to talk to. We chatted about all sorts of things from blogging and food, to cats and travel. I really enjoy it when I meet people from different parts of the world and discover that we’re not so different after all. The world is not as big as we all think. As we chatted away, we sipped on refreshing Mulberry Mojitos, the perfect choice for a warm day. What a pretty color too. This was Mitzee’s first real mac and cheese experience, and we definitely came to the right place. Delicatessen serves mac and cheese dishes from their neighbor Macbar, which is more of a takeout place. There are 9 different mac dishes to choose from.As you might expect, the moment our food arrived at the table, the cameras came out. I take almost all of my photos on my trusted iPhone 4. Quick and dirty snapshots… that’s how I roll, haha. Mitzee brought out her real camera to get some good photos. Bloggers doing blogger things…I’ve had the Mac ‘Shroom once years ago, and it was fantastic. This time, I ordred the The Four Cheese mac ($13), which had queso blanco, fontina, emmental, and gouda. Look at that glorious skillet of cheesy goodness. Yum! Also, I’m constantly impressed by the iPhone camera, and I don’t even have the latest and greatest model of the iPhone!Delicious comfort food, refreshing cocktails, and lovely company. We’ll have to meet up for ramen for our next blogger date, and it’ll be my treat next time around!
Here’s a quick selfie that we snapped on my phone before visiting Kate Spade to ooh and ahh over pretty purses. And it looks like it’s time for me to get another bang trim… my bangs are getting all crazy on me here.
