S’MAC, East Village

Madison Square Park, NYCLast Sunday, John and I celebrated 7 years since our first date! Long story short, we met online in 2005 when John first moved to Pittsburgh, but we didn’t meet in person until our first date in March 2007. We’ve pretty much been inseparable since then!

Before our Sunday walk and lunch date, I went in for a haircut! The BIG chop! I haven’t had short hair in over 10 years. I’ve been really excited about this cut, but nervous at the same time. Haircut

My stylist didn’t give me bangs as I’m still growing out my undercut, but I would like to add them at some point. I never thought that losing all that hair would be so refreshing. Goodbye split ends! My stylist cut it to the length of the 1st photo I showed her, but styled it wavy like the 3rd. Still getting used to it, but I can’t wait to experiment with styling!

Met up with John at Madison Square Park before we walked over to East Village. He was so excited about my hair — first time he’s seen me with short hair! We had a Groupon for S’Mac and decided to give their East Village location a try. S'Mac East Village

John got the La Mancha mac and cheese with machego cheese, fennel, and onions. Last time we visited S’Mac, I loved the Parisienne with brie, figs, mushrooms, and rosemary. So wonderfully creamy, but I feel like they skimped on the mushrooms this time. S'Mac East Village

Next time we’re craving mac and cheese, we’ll go back to the Murray Hill location. It was more spacious and less busy. The East Village location had a long line the entire time we were there, and people keep hovering by the tables hoping you’ll leave soon.

I really like your new haircut. I haven’t had a haircut for ages (almost 6 month ago), and I’m also considering getting a shorter hairdo (but I don’t think I’d dare:)
I love mac’n’cheese so much that I sometimes buy the “just add milk and butter” packages..gross I know:) S’MAC looks nice

Thanks! :) I’m still in the process of getting used to the short hair, but I’m glad I did it. Now if only the weather would get warmer and sunnier to match my new hairdo!

I remember how much I loved the “just add milk and butter” mac ‘n’ cheese packages back in college. It got the job done when I was hungry! ;)

Oh you are a brave girl for chopping off your hair. And it looks beautiful on you! I like that messy bob a lot. I myself have chopped my hair really (like boyish) short in the last couple of years and after initial relief, I always felt kinda bad and missing my long(er) hair. So, kudos to you! :) Also, happy anniversary!

Thank you! I haven’t had any moments where I’ve missed my longer hair… yet, but I was definitely nervous about this short cut. Last time I had short hair was over 10 years ago, and it was not a fabulous haircut! Glad I took the risk this time. ;)
