Essex, Lower East Side

When Kelly and Matt visited earlier this month, we decided that brunch was a must! $24 for a brunch entree and unlimited mimosas or bloody marys at Essex. Trendy place in the Lower East Side. Must make reservations. Kinda surprised by how dressed up some people were… or did they not make it home the night before?

Totally indulged with the Lobster Benedict. My vegetarian diet does not include fish, but I’ll occasionally treat myself to shellfish. Crustaceans are pretty much giant sea bugs, right? Total lobster overload. Perfectly poached eggs. The creamy hollandaise sauce with the lobster is a match made in heaven. The english muffin was too buttery for me.

Kelly ordered another of their Eggs Benedict dishes: the Salmon Gravlax Benedict.

John and Matt both ordered the Mexican Matzo Brei. At least 5 or 6 eggs were used in this dish. Pretty intense. They also have a vegan version of this dish.
