S’MAC, Murray Hill

S'MAC Murray HillOver the weekend, we visited S’MAC Murray Hill with a $19 Groupon for 2 major munch macs (large) and 2 beers/wines. We did a little shopping after our cheesy lunch, but shopping with intense food coma is not easy!

Cute place with brightly colored interiors. We grabbed the table by the window and got to people watch as we ate. A lot people walking by were very curious about S’MAC and stopped to peek inside or at the menu. A mac & cheese restaurant is a genius idea, despite the obscene number of calories.

John ordered the 4 Cheese Mac with cheddar, muenster, gruyere, and pecorino. They serve the mac in cast iron skillets, and you can specify with or without breadcrumbs. Why would anyone say no?! S'MAC - Four Cheese MacIt was hard to decide, but I eventually settled on the Parisenne, which seemed like the most unique one. Creamy brie, roasted figs, roasted shiitake mushrooms, and fresh rosemary. The menu was right — it was very addictive!S'MAC - Parisenne MacHere I am, really stoked about digging in to my mac. I was also contemplating the total number of calories. They don’t call it the major munch for nothing! Lunch at S'MAC Murray HillI was a little concerned that the brie would be too overwhelming, but that wasn’t the case. Perfectly creamy, and the figs and mushrooms offered delicious pops of flavor. I never would have thought to put figs in mac & cheese! S'MAC - Parisenne MacDespite my valiant attempt at mac consumption, I was only able to finish half of it. Mac for lunch, leftover mac for dinner. A very indulgent Saturday!

I love mac & cheese! I’ve seen some “just-add-water” versions in the supermarket, but I’m afraid I’ll get disappointed. Better visit New York for the real thing:)

The “just-add-water” versions were fine when I was a kid, but they just don’t do it for me anymore. Yah, next time you’re in NY, it’s mac & cheese time for you!
