Day 2 with Leslie and Derek, we went to Hudson River Cafe for Sunday brunch. Yep, just can’t get enough of these prix fixe brunches with cocktails. They have bellinis! And waiters who refill your glass immediately after you take a sip! :)
John and I have been to Hudson River Cafe several times. This time around, I ordered their Huevos Rancheros. Fried eggs over a black bean and cheese quesadilla topped with ranchero sauce, guacamole, pico de gallo, home made sour creme. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had ranchero sauce made from green chile. This is one of those dishes that looks small, but ends up being very filling. It tasted okay. The bean black and cheese quesadilla was unremarkable. Eggs were decent. Toppings were decent. Meh.
Hudson River Cafe is a short walk from our place. We usually walk over on Broadway or Amsterdam under getting to 133rd. Took a little detour this time and walked along 12th Ave instead. It was nice, leisurely walk away from the busy streets. Well, it was leisurely until John and Derek decided to race up the stairs.
