Blendily All-Natural Skincare & Glow Up Experience

Blendily All-Natural Skincare, Alberta St, PortlandMany thanks to Blendily for inviting me in to experience the Glow Up treatment. As always, all opinions are my own.

Last fall, Blendily skincare kitchen opened a brand new flagship store on NE Alberta Street. The Alberta Arts District has been home to Blendily for some time, but the light and airy storefront offers an new opportunity for walk-in customers to see, smell, and feel the Blendily skincare collection for themselves.

Owner Ivy Chuang takes a #seedtoskin approach to skincare, using only certified organic ingredients and foraging as many ingredients as possible right here in the Pacific Northwest. Every skincare, bath, and body product at Blendily is lovingly handcrafted in small batches in the kitchen. At most, you’ll find 12 ingredients in a Blendily product, and you’ll never find any additives or preservatives in the mix. With the exception of a few items containing beeswax or honey, everything at Blendily is vegan. The only animals they test on are willing human subjects. ;)

The Blendily Glow Up Experience

I was invited in to chat with Ivy about her vision for Blendily skincare (and I learned that she spent a number of years in Taiwan too) and to experience the Glow Up treatment with a friend. The Blendily Glow Up experience is a special self-care service with a floral facial steam followed by a botanical elixir brush on treatment. As a bonus, you can add on tea service to make the most of the experience. The Glow Up service is available daily from 11am to 5pm. No appointment is necessary, but giving the Blendily team a heads up if you have a large group is much appreciated.

The Blendily Glow Up features seasonal and locally sourced flowers, herbs, and essences. My friend Sami and I were among the first to experience the new Glow Up menu which offers a choice between the Hoppy Dreams and Pretty in Pink floral steam. I opted for the latter, a swirl of wild roses and dark red roselle petals accented by orange and geranium essential oils for mood enhancing and skin healing qualities.

First, you pour half the carafe of hot water over the floral blend to release the steam. Pull the towel over your head to capture the steam. Inhale and relax. As soon as the hot water touched the flower petals, it turned a vibrant shade of pink. When the floral blend is almost all out of steam, pour in the rest of the hot water and continue steaming. After the steam, brush on the botanical elixir for a calming sensational thanks to the anti-inflammatory, astringent properties of the ingredients.

The Blendily Glow Up is best enjoyed with a friend as you can sip on tea and catch up afterwards. I recommend skipping your makeup routine when you come in for the Glow Up (or removing it at the sink before your treatment). I made the mistake of wearing a tinted moisturizer, which made the brush on elixir a little messy. Oh well, at least I still felt rejuvenated while sporting a fresh, glowy face. On this visit, I also picked up the Golden Hour and Ruby Skies facial oil serums that have been keeping my skin happy during the cold spell we’ve had here in Portland. Blendily, I will be back!

What a beautiful, rejuvenating experience. I’d love to do this with a girlfriend instead of the usual brunch date!

Or you can do both! ;) Brunch on Alberta, then stop by Blendily afterwards.

What a wonderful option to have right here in Portland. I have been consistently replacing all of my beauty products with more natural alternatives so I am happy to learn of a new option right here locally.

Yes! I love that Blendily is natural and local, and I’ve noticed that the products are very reasonably priced for the quality. A little bit goes a really long way.
