Super Bowl Noodle House, Rockville, MD

Super Bowl Noodle House, Rockville

Our second stop in Rockville was Super Bowl Noodle House, where they serve much more than just noodles. The menu was huge, the portions were big, and you could customize the protein for almost all the main dishes. Here’s a very important question: do you think anyone ever comes here to watch the Super Bowl?

Several of my friends ordered the Taiwanese braised pork rice bowl. It’s a classic Taiwanese dish, and as you can see, the key to this dish is the sauce. I’ve made meatless versions of this with veggie meat, but haven’t been able to make a good sauce yet.

John and I got an order of the braised fried bean curd ($3.95). The bean curd essentially a sponge that has soaked up lots of soy sauce. I enjoy always bean curd of all sorts, but this definitely needs to go with rice or noodles as it’s so salty.

John got the vegetable stir fried chow fun ($8.95). It’s served on an unusual plate and is a very large portion. It had to be spruced up with hot sauce as it was kind of bland.

I got the Szechuan hot and sour noodle soup with glass noodles ($7.95). Sometimes this soup comes out more red, other times more brown-black… at Super Bowl, it was almost pitch black. The noodles and toppings were fine. I enjoyed the spiciness of the soup, but it was so damn sour! I’ve been away from Asia for a long time, so it’s possible I’m just less accustomed to certain flavors. This super sour soup left my tongue tingling for hours. What a weird sensation.

Love that the color of that soup has changed over time. Maybe next time it will be purple? :) PS: Your website is once again allowed in the UAE:)

Hahah, I would love to see a purple soup! Oh phew, I guess UAE finally got over the fact that I wrote about a falafel place owned by a Jewish guy, lol.
