Instead of using my go to <a href=\"http:\/\/wazwu.com\/blog\/2011\/11\/30\/buttery-buttery-biscuits\/\">biscuits recipe<\/a>, I decided to try this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seriouseats.com\/recipes\/2011\/04\/bread-baking-cheddar-and-scallion-biscuits-recipe.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Serious Eats recipe<\/a>, because it seems a little simpler, and I&#8217;m all for keeping things simple. Instead of scallions, I used a generous amount of fresh chives, which were quite delightful.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll ever use that recipe as is again. The mixture was a sticky nightmare to work with, and I think it also needed more raising agent and a higher baking temperature. The final product tasted fine, but it was very dry and dense&#8230; more like a hockey puck than a flaky biscuit.
