And what a Thanksgiving it was. We had dinner at La Cave at the Wynn with Felicia, Isabel, Tracy, and Solomon. It’s been years since some of us have seen each other, so there was lots of catching up to do. Our table was pretty loud, which made me feel slightly bad for the adjacent table… but hey, it’s a Thanksgiving high school reunion! ;)

The restaurants at at The Wynn are supposed to be among the most vegetarian/vegan-friendly restaurants on the strip. La Cave is a wine and tapas place with an allergen menu. Why did they have to call it that?!

There are several different rooms at La Cave, and the one we were seated in was very cave-like! It was a bit of a struggle to read the menu. There were votives along the tables and small lamps hanging from the ceiling. Loved the mix of inside/outside with the use of floor-to-ceiling windows and greenery. You can’t quite tell from the photo, but there’s were two rattan chair swings nearby. That would be a fun dining experience!

John and I had stuck to the vegetarian tapas. We ordered the fiery artichoke, roasted pepper, and olive flatbread ($14) to share. He also got their Gardein Chick’n with celery root puree and lemon caper sauce ($14), while I had the vegan mushroom tortellini with arugula in a yummy cashew “cream” sauce ($13). I work in the wine industry, so wine and tapas are right up my alley! Ordered a delicious Tempranillo to enjoy with the food.

Left: Isabel got a photo of the fiery artichoke, roasted pepper, and olive flatbread. Topped with an amazing cheese, but I don’t remember what it was.
Right: Isabel ordered the cavetellini with shredded short rib and brussel sprouts ($16).Because of the dim lighting, there was a mixup during dinner! Felicia, Isabel, Tracy, and Solomon mistook our vegetarian flatbread for the flatbread they ordered. They thought the cheese was some very strange quail eggs! There was also some confusion with the scallops they ordered, which were stacked on top of polenta cakes. They divided up the dish thinking the polenta cakes were scallops too. “Hey, what did you think of the scallops?” “It was good!” “Really? Those were some weird scallops…” Hahaha.

The Wynn may be the most gorgeous resort on the Vegas strip. If I were to splurge on a room at the Wynn, I probably wouldn’t venture outside much! It’s a little out of the way, but it’s definitely worth popping into the Wynn if you’re in Vegas.

Save

Save

Save

Back to the Vegas Thanksgiving series!
