Have you ever visited Ferment Brewing? Located along the waterfront of the scenic Columbia River, Ferment is one of Oregon’s hidden gem breweries, born out of a love for the art of fermentation. I had an opportunity to tour the brewery and learn more about their farmhouse ales and traditional English style beers — and even taste their newest beer straight out of the barrel. Brewmaster Dan Peterson puts his background as a scientist and lab tech to use brewing beer, while his wife Jenn manages the brewery and tasting room. We sipped on beers as we toured the brewery and even got to taste Ferment\u2019s newest lager straight out of the brewing tank. Made with organic agave and flaked corn, the El Lager Dorado tastes floral and piney with bright citrus, like a built in lime wedge.<\/span><\/p>\n The second floor tasting room \u2014 with its sleek lines, leafy plant accents, and large panes wrapping the space in stunning river views \u2014 looks like it belongs in an architecture magazine. Plus, you can gaze into the heart of Ferment and watch the brewmasters in action.<\/p>\n In addition to Ferment\u2019s beer collection, you\u2019ll also find kombucha cocktails on the tasting room menu. Both Dan and Jenn are vegetarian, and with Tofurky headquarters right across the street, the classic Tofurky burger \u2014 compete with kombucha ketchup for the fries \u2014 was the perfect food pairing. Other vegan bites include a hummus plate with flatbread and veggies.<\/p>\n I was invited by Ferment Brewing to this brewery tour.
