I\u2019m so glad we made reservations. It was very crowded, and it seemed like they might have been understaffed. That, or their waiters just aren\u2019t very attentive. The tables are packed very tightly together, so you end up hearing every little bit of your neighbors\u2019 conversations, whether you want it or not. We were seated next to a couple who were on a *very* awkward first date. Heheheh.<\/p>\n<p>Appetizer #1: Nasu Agedashi ($6), lightly deep fried Japanese eggplant in warm tensuyu broth. (I rarely eat eggplant because John absolutely hates it. Perhaps even more than he hates mushrooms.) Tasty, but very greasy. Might as well try it here too! It didn\u2019t offer as much vegetables as the other soba places I\u2019ve visited so far, but the ingredients were of a higher quality. Pricing is very similar, and Soba Totto\u2019s appetizers were much larger than I was expecting. Overall, Soba Totto feels a little more upscale than the others.
