We’ve decided to take a break from ramen (hard to believe, I know) and will be exploring soba in 2013. Naturally, Soba-ya was first on the list. Located a couple blocks away from Ippudo, I suspect soba-ya is a popular backup for noodle fanatics. The menu was almost overwhelming. We started with some tempura. No shrimp, just veggies for me. Fresh veggies and a light crispy batter. What’s there not to love? Angela ordered the Kamo Seiro Soba ($16). The soba was cold, but the duck dipping sauce was hot. If you order the large, you get 2 big trays of soba! I ordered the Yasai Hot Soba ($13.50), which was packed full with mushrooms and vegetables. The broth was too salty to drink on its own, but was quite lovely with the soba and veggies. Very comforting on a chilly winter’s day. Soba-ya, I’ll be back! "}
