Madison may be a huge school, but the graduation ceremony was so efficient! For dinner, Michael picked out Brickhouse BBQ, a new restaurant not far from campus. Our table shared the hush puppies (Southern fried cornmeal fritters, served with spicy mayo) and the duck legs (crispy fried Maple Valley Farm duck legs, served with raspberry ginger BBQ sauce). I didn’t try the duck, but oh my goodness, the hush puppies were to die for! I need to learn how to make hush puppies asap! In addition to the delicious sauces that came with the appetizers, they served 3 awesome BBQ sauces: molasses based, vinegar based, mustard based. I could not get enough of the molasses based sauce. It was hard to pick an entree. I bounced between the blackened Southern catfish, pulled pork sandwich and vegetable sandwich. Went with the vegetable sandwich because I rarely have mushrooms. (John hates mushrooms, even just the smell of them). It was huge and only $7.99! My sandwich had grilled portabella mushrooms with fire roasted roma tomatoes, smoked gouda, and herbed garlic spread.
