Berkeley Law    24" x 24" directory maps, 14" x 14" evacuation maps

The scope of this project involved mapping all existing signage, understanding California building code and fire safety requirements, and proposing new designs and locations for directory maps and evacuation signage. My responsibilities include designing and developing 18 directory maps (24” x 24” ) and 56 evacuation maps (14” x 14”), proposing non-illuminated exit signs where necessary, and conducting walk throughs of the 11 floors of the Berkeley Law complex.

All wayfinding signage is currently in the process of being manufactured and will be installed in the Berkeley Law complex within a few weeks.

Eighteen directory maps are located on the first through fourth floors of the Berkeley Law complex. These maps are marked with destination spaces, main public areas, and elevator and restroom locations. The directory maps are located on the first through fourth floors of the Berkeley Law complex.

North, south, east, and west evacuation maps for the first floor.

The evacuation maps are located on all eleven floors and provide visitors with primary and secondary exiting routes. Additionally, the evacuation maps indicate where fire suppresants and designated waiting areas are located on each floor. The colors, icons, and conventions used on the evacuation maps were determined by building code and the need for them to be easily understood in the case of an emergency. The maps are oriented differently (north, south, east, west) depending on where they are located in the building. A total of 56 evacuation maps were produced.
